Roomygami Bike Rack FAQ
- 01The flexi-fold-out can typically be installed in less than 2 hours, and in some cases even within 1 hour. The installation process involves removing the doors, unplugging lights, bumper, and sensors. The unit bolts to the tow bar mounts, and two people can then lift it up and attach it to the door bolt attachments. Once the lights and sensors are clipped in, and with a 12V power supply, you're good to go.
- 02A flexi-fold-out allows for the ease of driving a shorter vehicle while offering the space of a longer one. Driving a long vehicle is challenging, particularly when trying to find parking in urban areas. With a flexi-fold-out, you can fit into standard parking spaces, reducing the need to search for multiple parking spots for a long vehicle. In off-road conditions, having a longer van may limit terrain access, and a lighter vehicle can be advantageous compared to a larger one.
- 03We only produces the flexi-fold-out part. They are working with leading designers and manufacturers to seamlessly add flexi-fold-outs to their products.
- 04The total unit weight is XXXkgs, but removing the two back doors (approximately 80kg) results in a net weight of only XXkgs for adding 2m length to your van.
- 05Decades of use and weather testing ensure reliability. We have done decades worth of opening and closing in a range of weather conditions along with some enhanced testing on shaker tables to simulate the worst road conditions so we know it is reliable. The main mechanisms are proven in other applications, significantly reducing the risk of hinges, linear bearings, and linear actuators failing.
- 06It's designed to be highly weather-resistant, ensuring customers don't have to worry about its performance in various weather conditions.
- 07Yes - various options are available for customers to choose from. Please contact us directly and we can find you the colour and type of fabric you're looking for. By default the outside layer is a tough water-proof, black-out fabric. Inside is a triple layer insulated material to help with thermal and sound insulation. Because this is automatically folded and unfolder it is possible to have a much larger range of more robust materials
- 08The space allotted for the mattress is suitable for a comfortable standard double sized mattress, leaving room for folly or slate bases underneath if desired.
- 09Fuel Efficiency — Why Size Matters A larger motorhome might look similar in size, but it’s significantly heavier and less efficient than a van. That difference adds up fast. Typical fuel use: Van (6m, ~3.5t) Uses around 10–14 L/100km Large motorhome (7.5–8m, 4–5t) Uses around 18–28 L/100km What that actually means A motorhome uses 8–14 litres more fuel per 100km. That’s roughly 60–100% more fuel consumption compared to a van. Real-world impact: On a 1,000km trip: Van: ~100–140 litres Motorhome: ~180–280 litres That’s an extra 80–140 litres of fuel for the same journey. The takeaway You’re not just carrying more space — you’re paying for it every kilometre.
- 10The system includes two remote controls with three buttons: Open, Close, and Stop. If an actuator encounters an obstacle, it will stop and retract slightly. The close button functions in safety mode to ensure the unit closes properly before opening again. Manual override is available but requires extreme caution.
- 11Numerous in-built safety systems include securing the back while driving with three independent mechanisms, overcurrent sensors as force sensors, and fail-safe measures like sacrificial hinges on some folding parts.
- 12The fabric part may require replacement over time but is easily maintained by unfolding and letting it dry before storage.
- 13Manual closing is possible without power, with a video demonstrating how easy this process is. The core bed can be lifted manually, making it simpler than most alternatives.

- 16Each has its unique advantages. Flexi-fold-outs offer the ease of driving a shorter vehicle with the space of a longer one, while slide-outs focus on expanding living space and pop-ups prioritize compactness when not in use
- 17Currently, the flexi-fold-out only fits on post-2019 Mercedes Sprinter vans, with modifications required for other van types. Contact us directly for further details on other van styles.
